That is just the way free market capitalism, free speech and democracy interact, in modern days. Marketers competing for our eyeballs.  \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d297983 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d297983\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3537\" src=\"https:\/\/fighting-to-understand.us\/\/old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/imagee2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fighting-to-understand.us\/\/old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/imagee2.png 475w, https:\/\/fighting-to-understand.us\/\/old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/imagee2-300x213.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/>\n\nWe know, but it is worth repeating, that we are <b>attracted to information that we agree with<\/b> \u2013 known as confirmation bias.\u00a0 Media algorithms feed us more-of-the-same to agree to.\u00a0 Eventually, we can find ourselves in an information silo.\n\nWe also know that much of <b>media uses a strategy of fear<\/b> (for example fear-of-missing-out) to motivate us to purchase products, or viewpoints.\n\nIt is common to believe that media gives us something.\u00a0 But mostly, media takes\u2026 our time! And gives us angst.\n\nWe know, but it\u2019s worth repeating, that to some extent, <b>I am what I consume<\/b>.\n\n<b>To act like a citizen<\/b> is going to require more of our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b><a href=\"#\">time<\/a><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0 To act like a citizen is going to require a unifying <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"#\"><b>viewpoint<\/b><\/a><\/span> rather than a divisive outlook.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-73b4ad7\" data-id=\"73b4ad7\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9d7f8aa eael-infobox-content-align--center elementor-widget elementor-widget-eael-info-box\" data-id=\"9d7f8aa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"eael-info-box.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t        <div class=\"eael-infobox\">\n\t            <div class=\"infobox-content\">\n            <div>Although we may be exposed to thousands of marketing messages per day, we\u2019ve heard that our brain registers about 250 of these marketing messages.
